Introduction to Hand Papermaking with Lindsey Knipe

Saturday, August 19th, 11am-3pm

Members: $120, Non-Members: $135, Materials: $40

Join us to explore the techniques of traditional hand papermaking! Participants will learn the basics of sheet formation in this introductory workshop using pulp from recycled materials. To expand on the basics, students will also be taught some decorative methods including blowouts, inclusions, and double-couching. Students are encouraged to bring dried flowers, confetti, threads, and other small, thin materials that can be included in your paper sheets.

Students will walk away with a knowledge of the foundations of papermaking and a look into how we expand the practice to make paper from military uniforms, healthcare worker’s garments, personal clothing, and more. The process of papermaking is very meditative and we will aim to embrace this quality for you to work into your own artistic practice. Beginners welcome! No experience necessary!
