Please join us for an engaging and hands-on workshop that aims to explore the history and creations of Zines. Zines are a unique platform that provides an opportunity to express oneself and share stories, passions, and perspectives. During the workshop, we will explore the rich history and diverse styles of zines, from their beginnings to their contemporary usage. Essential techniques and tools will be introduced to help bring ideas and your creative voice to the zine.

In this one day, in-person workshop, you will learn how to create two intaglio printing plates using Tetra-Pak containers. (Think Box Milk, Soy Milk, Almond milk, Chicken Broth, Rice Milk) Frontline Arts will supply all materials for this workshop, and you will learn how to create eco-friendly intaglio prints from recycled materials with this great non-toxic process.

This is a great workshop for the at-home printer with limited space and resources! All experience levels welcome!

A day of celebrating all things Frontline Arts! We will be conducting large paper pours for extra large papermaking fun and have an art sale of work by our staff, volunteers, and other community members. Experience some printmaking techniques we offer by printing a poster off our Vandercook Universal 1 and bring your own t-shirt to screen print a Frontline Arts design on it!

William Paterson University Family Day and Printmaking Workshop with Frontline Arts

On Saturday April 29th we will be at the William Paterson University Family Day! We will be holding monotype print workshops at the Ben Shahn Center for the Visual Arts from 11am-1pm. The exhibition El Cartel/The Poster: Puerto Rican Graphics and Myles Dunigan: Sacrifice Zones will be open from 10am to 2pm. Participants will be able to create a small monotype using a printing press and non-toxic ink. The event is free and open to the public but advance reservation for the workshop is required. Experience the magic of marbling decorative and abstract papers with this easy-to-pick-up introductory workshop to a centuries old practice.

Your single session hands-on class will be so much more than a painting party: you'll have the opportunity to follow your curiosity as you experience the spontaneous magic of paper marbling and also learn how to control classic, intricate patterns. You’ll be walked through all the techniques you need to make mesmerizing designs in 16 specially prepared colors of the season.

Join Frontline Paper in an introductory participatory demonstration of the transformative process of creating paper from US military uniforms. Participants will form sheets of paper from premade pulp. Participants will then be given the opportunity to make a unique piece of art on their sheet of paper using pigmented, finely-beaten pulp and stencils.

Feeling stuck and need some advice? Here’s your chance to drop in and work on a project with Rachel and Lindsey in the studio. In this session we are open to any advice on etching, monotype, relief, or book arts. No papermaking, screen printing or letterpress. Please note that this session will only allow for proofing or advice and troubleshooting, not editioning, and equipment is first come, first served.

This one-day, in-person workshop is designed to learn the basics of screen printing and to create an 8-10 foot repeat pattern that can be used for bookmaking, wallpaper design, wrapping paper, or any fabric use. Students will develop a pattern around 12x18 inches in class either digitally and/or by hand, learn to coat and expose a silk-screen, and set up and print! You are encouraged bring fabric if you would like to print on that. No experience required!
